Nicaragua.

I traveled to Nicaragua for a week to volunteer with International Samaritan and Children's Wellness Fund to help in the construction of a home. Not only did I get to put my hands to work in building a home, but I was also able to build connections with the family we were helping and other families in the community. Words cannot describe the impact this experience had on me.

This week continued to open my mind to the opportunities available to help others. Escaping the everyday routine, embracing a simple lifestyle, and seeing the light and happiness in everyone around me (no matter their situation) allowed me fully connect with this trip.

With my time in college coming to a close, I don't feel scared that my plan isn't certain yet. I am confident that my passion to help others and to make an impact will guide me in the right direction.
I left Nicaragua with a full heart, an urge to to return, and a deeper understanding of myself. This doesn't fully explain my thoughts.. but for now it is all I can offer.

"You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope."
